The E60 will always be my favourite M5. Just that glorious, glorious exhaust note is enough to win me over.

These cars are much too loud. They shouldn’t be on public roads! They are dangerous! Who would want a racecar like this?!

They sound pretty badass when you uncork the exhaust. Haven’t driven it, but can confirm. I’ve been party to a cold startup, and dear lordy they’re loud as hell.
One is a high mileage DD, the other is a lower mileage highway cruiser. And by highway cruiser I mean an ounce under 90 is only going to happen on local roads.

$10,000 per side for catalyst
$1,000,000 bazillion for a crankshaft when the cap bearing fail
I was shopping for one and about to pull the trigger. Research saved my ass. Dat V10 noise tho.

As much as I love the e60 M5. I’m going to have to post this here. Brace yourself.

I saw that car being thrashed around Infineon four years ago. Fan-fucking-tastic sound.

I am so jealous. Hearing one of the former v10 F1 cars is on my bucket list.

It was during the intermission for the Ferrari Challenge race at Sonoma. They also had a 599XX and a 333 SP going around.

I can’t even right now. Do you know if they still hold that race in Sonoma now? I’d be willing to make the trek up there from the Bay Area just for that lineup of awesomeness.

Did the rod bearings in mine at 40k, wasn’t too bad. If you pay attention, it’s no big deal. You’re right, it’s not an engine to ignore.

If only the repair bills weren’t infamous for that V10, even among the BMW community. I would love an E60 M5.

I love these things. They’re such sleepers, no one would ever knwo the magic under the hood.
